Wintering
Happy Winter! We’ve been invited to do several shows this year at fantastic venues. And I haven’t written in some time for my blog. There has been energy moving this year for recording, teaching and bigger optimism suddenly. With very cold weather and some bigger snow in February, March could be cold but bringing it on to Spring. It has not been easy these past 2 years and we have all been through quite a bit of traumatic times, but also good times. I’m not losing sight to be grateful, but sometimes I wonder! To keep going is the main thing x
Saturday evening, March 5th, Scott Dailey and I will be performing at Two James Spirits in Detroit’s Corktown as part of the Corktown Music Festival. Our percussionist Ron Wolf is joining us, too. It’s a benefit for 4 PAWS 1 Heart for homeless pets, so come on down to warm up and enjoy some music, spirits and good March hope. And wish Scott a happy birthday! And further down the road into May, June and July and beyond, we’ll be performing at The Cadieux Café in Detroit, 20 Front Street in Lake Orion, several music festivals in the Detroit area/Northern Michigan area and a possible return overseas to the U.K. – and possibly some April surprises with shows and traveling!
Thanks so much for the submissions in this year’s Detroit Music Awards. Scott Dailey is up for Outstanding Guitarist and the Carolyn Striho Group is up for Outstanding Live Act. I’m happy to be considered for Outstanding Songwriter, Vocalist, Keyboardist and Artist. https://www.detroitmusicawards.net/categories-for-2022
Also, thanks for the big support for “Detroit (Maiden Energy)” which was on the First Ballot of the Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word Album 2022.

“Love the colour of your heartfelt voice, lovely intro on ‘Cornered Room’ great song! ‘Let It Go’ another favourite of mine, nice rapping, and love the gypsy feel on ‘Russian Inn’ beautiful violinist. Stunning album, love it”
Striho continues to share her brilliance, effortlessly moving from bluesy and jazzy to belted out rock & roll. Her latest release, Afterthought, showcases all of these styles, along with a few more that might surprise people. The musical poetry is undeniably Striho however, and she manages to pull everything together with the ease of a seasoned pro and the flair of a master illusionist. She makes her own creative path and people can’t help but follow where she leads…
“Afterthought moves through a host of musical moods, from the moodier, darker vibe of the opening title track to exotic gypsy-rock feel of “Russian Inn” to the lively, driving sound of “Love Won’t Stay Close” which you can hear exclusively for now in this Freep First Spin debut.”
