News from Carolyn
August 2022
We just had a whirlwind of exciting shows in Detroit and northern Michigan. Thanks for so many great memories and super stages. Thanks to Don Was, Ismael Ahmed and Ann Delisi and The Detroit Institute of Arts for the Concert of Colors performances we did, and to 20 Front Street in Lake Orio with Erin Zindle and Mary McGuire, Canterbury Village in Lake Orion, WKLT-FM Northern Michigan Traverse City and Terri Ray, as well as The Lark Theater in Cheboygan, Michigan. Wow! And we’re just back from Mackinac Island, where we had performed several times – grateful! My book has been added to more bookstores and also to libraries in Metro Detroit and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In August, we’ll be back in Detroit’s Corktown to play at Brooklyn Street Local on Wednesday evening, August 24th from 6 to 8 pm. for the Corktown Sounds series. We performed in Corktown back in the winter in March, and are back at Brooklyn Street Local on a summer evening. Brooklyn Street Local is at 1266 Michigan Avenue in Detroit. We are performing as a trio that evening and it’s a free admission show. I’ll be on vocals, guitar and keyboards, with Scott Dailey on guitar and vocals and Ron Wolf on percussion.

Sunday, August 28th, Book Beat’s 40th Anniversary celebration in Oak, Park, Michigan from 12 to 5 pm will be a treat! I’ll be doing a music/poetry performance with Scott Dailey on guitar with so many great authors reading and signing books and more music performances. If you haven’t gotten a copy of “Detroit (Maiden Energy)”, now is the time to come on over. And there are many new authors to discover and music to hear. Free admission, and details here from the Metro Times and Book Beat! https://www.metrotimes.com/arts/oak-parks-book-beat-to-celebrate-40-years-this-month-30761929: https://www.thebookbeat.com/backroom/2022/08/05/book-beat-40th-anniversary-party/
Also on Sunday, August 28th, at 9 pm EST, we’ll be back on KLT The Rock Station’s Garage with Terri Ray! Tune in for a repeat live broadcast in Traverse City on northern Michigan WKLT-FM’s The Garage! Live streamed at https://www.wklt.com/copy-of-ida or tune in if you are in northern Michigan at FM 97.5, 93.5 and 96.7
We’re planning to release a new single before the album release coming up, too. Enjoy the hot summer days and fall-like weather, too, as I write this note. So much has happened in the last several years, and here’s to your health.

“Love the colour of your heartfelt voice, lovely intro on ‘Cornered Room’ great song! ‘Let It Go’ another favourite of mine, nice rapping, and love the gypsy feel on ‘Russian Inn’ beautiful violinist. Stunning album, love it”
Striho continues to share her brilliance, effortlessly moving from bluesy and jazzy to belted out rock & roll. Her latest release, Afterthought, showcases all of these styles, along with a few more that might surprise people. The musical poetry is undeniably Striho however, and she manages to pull everything together with the ease of a seasoned pro and the flair of a master illusionist. She makes her own creative path and people can’t help but follow where she leads…
“Afterthought moves through a host of musical moods, from the moodier, darker vibe of the opening title track to exotic gypsy-rock feel of “Russian Inn” to the lively, driving sound of “Love Won’t Stay Close” which you can hear exclusively for now in this Freep First Spin debut.”
