News from Carolyn
October and The Grammys(R)!
Great news! Our new song “The Bridge” is on the first round of voting in The Grammy Awards(R) Ballot for Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance! Released in June 2023, “The Bridge” was written, sang and performed by Erin Zindle and Carolyn Striho.Thank you to Geoff Michaels for engineering at Big Sky Recording in Ann Arbor Michigan, where we recorded the song in spring 2023. Thank you to Jamie Candiloro for mixing and to Greg Calbi/Sterling Sound for the mastering. Artwork and lyric video by Erin Zindle. You can hear it here on Youtube or just click this link or the Hearnow: https://carolynstrihoanderinzindle.hearnow.com
Scott Dailey and I have been wrapped up with mixing the songs and working and teaching and we are getting ready to release the singles soon. Being mastered by Third Man Records Cass Corridor Detroit, they are almost ready!
We also were grateful to travel back to Europe, this time again to Italy, with cousins who live in Trieste and near Slovenia. We have played in Europe on seven tours and am honored to have played Donne in Musica, Rome, Frascati and Fiuggi, and also, in the U.K. several times in London and Isle of Wight and in Japan.
We also had a great summer of shows throughout Detroit, Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids and near Ann Arbor.
I’ve got some new shows to talk about soon, and one is from a reading/music show with my book at The Mount Clemens Public Library, in downtown Mount Clemens, Michigan on Saturday, October 14th, at noon. This is a really cool new Library and the show will feature poetry and also some new music I’m doing. Details here https://events.getlocalhop.com/author-visit-carolyn-striho/event/9hJFmgwAfM/
And thanks for the airplay on WDET-FM NPR Detroit, KLT The Rock Station in Traverse City, Michigan, Ann Arbor’s 107.1 FM’s Tree Town Sound and WHFR-FM Dearborn Michigan as we continue to hear new music on the radio from our previous and new recordings from us, including Detroit Energy Asylum, Carolyn Striho & Scott Dailey, and Erin Zindle and me for our new song.
There’s also a new album out that features the band I was in for many years, Detroit Energy Asylum. Detroit Energy Asylum’s “Landslide of Life” is a heartfelt, spirited album and I hope you might check it. With a stellar production job by Freddie Brooks, it contains ten songs, nine of which I wrote or co-wrote and with a cover of Iggy’s “I Need Somebody.” I’m on lead vocals, piano and rhythm guitar with Dave McMurray on saxophone, Luis Resto on keyboards and our wonderful cast of great musicians, including Jervonny Collier on bass, Vinnie Dombroski on drums, Randy Jacobs and Joey Mazzola on guitar and more. Here is the link to Bandcamp – https://orchide.bandcamp.com/
Thank you for listening, and I’m happy to be releasing the new music soon…it’s really coming, along with several Fall shows, too, that feel different. It’s amost as though a strange, new enlightenment is coming together.
Love,

“Love the colour of your heartfelt voice, lovely intro on ‘Cornered Room’ great song! ‘Let It Go’ another favourite of mine, nice rapping, and love the gypsy feel on ‘Russian Inn’ beautiful violinist. Stunning album, love it”
Striho continues to share her brilliance, effortlessly moving from bluesy and jazzy to belted out rock & roll. Her latest release, Afterthought, showcases all of these styles, along with a few more that might surprise people. The musical poetry is undeniably Striho however, and she manages to pull everything together with the ease of a seasoned pro and the flair of a master illusionist. She makes her own creative path and people can’t help but follow where she leads…
“Afterthought moves through a host of musical moods, from the moodier, darker vibe of the opening title track to exotic gypsy-rock feel of “Russian Inn” to the lively, driving sound of “Love Won’t Stay Close” which you can hear exclusively for now in this Freep First Spin debut.”
